The VTB Corporate University

The VTB Corporate University is a set of strategic programs within the VTB Training and Development System (T&D System).

The Corporate University was established in 2005. VTB President and Chairman of the Management Board Andrei Kostin is its president. Serving on the University Council are top managers of VTB Bank and the VTB Group. Classes are given by VTB senior executives, professors and other instructors from leading Moscow universities, well-known trainers and consultants, as well as outstanding professionals who work in various business areas.

At the Corporate University, the bank’s employees attend interactive workshops, training sessions and business simulations. The professional work of the people enrolled in the courses is integrated into the educational process as the basis for homework, business case studies and final projects. The Corporate University has its own logo and anthem.



Corporate University Programs

Energy of Leadership
This is a competitive program of the Corporate University. Its main objective is to enhance management capabilities within the VTB Group.

The first group of graduates from the program (2005-2006, 55 employees) achieved 90% vertical mobility. This is the percentage of its graduates who advanced in their careers. VTB line managers were promoted to positions in charge of large divisions of VTB24, our retail banking subsidiary. Many graduates moved into new jobs, heading up branches and other offices of VTB Bank.

The second group (2006-2007, 64 employees) was particularly notable for its geographic reach. Participating in the Program were representatives of the bank’s subsidiaries in Russia and the Ukraine. Eight employees moved from jobs at branches of the bank to VTB Bank’s head office after graduation from the Energy of Leadership program.

The third group of students (2007-2008) was the first international class?to match the scope of VTB Group operations in the CIS. The main goal was to disseminate the best management practices throughout the areas where VTB has a presence.

The fourth group (2008-2009) was deliberately selected from among leaders of organizational units of the VTB head office and branches, as well as of its subsidiaries in the CIS, ranging from department heads to division heads and branch directors. Among the participants are 28 employees from eight financial institutions in Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Armenia and Azerbaijan. All candidates were selected on a competitive basis and recommended by senior executives at their banks. During the year, the candidates are participating in a comprehensive training program, consisting of four modules: Management, Marketing, Corporate Governance, and Commercial Bank Asset and Liability Management (business simulation). In between sessions, program participants do practical assignments, which are designed to address real problems facing VTB. The participants must submit a final project in order to receive a diploma.

Effective Management
This is an open program of the Corporate University, designed line managers of VTB Bank head office and branches. The program is aimed at developing business process and personnel management skills. It consists of four modules (7 Habits of highly effective people,, Adaptive Management, Effective Presentation, and Managing Performance Discipline). Participants in this program learn cutting-edge management technologies, while sharing their own expertise. Guided by experienced facilitators in workshops, the participants develop innovative solutions for the challenges currently facing the bank. Since 2006, over 500 line managers have completed this program.
